"Miraculum II" is a 30 meter long Mosaic Wall outside the Culture house in Pirshagi, Baku, made by artist Monica Larsson and with assistance
of artist Backa Carin Ivarsdotter, both from Stockholm. The decorative wall is an outcome of a workshop organised by Monica Larsson together
with children from Pirshagi, with help of artist Faig Ahmed, Baku.
The traditional patterns of domestic objects were photographed by the children and the artist who then transfered them into elements of
mosaic of both Azeri and Swedish traditional design. The mosaic was mounted onto a wall painted with red colour, reminding of Swedish rural
houses. The installation was a collaboration between Monica Larsson and artist Orxan Hüseinov, Baku.
Art has the power to open up communication between people. The vision of the project is to cover Azerbaijan, step by step, with a network
of collaborative art stations. The first stations are being realized in five culture houses around Baku.
The first art work in the series, an interactive sculptural book installation "A library within the libraray" was launched in May 2010 by
Anna Lindal, Reykjavík, for the library in Ahmedli. The second, the video installation "Portraits of Bina" by Eva Koch, Copenhagen for Bina
culture house was inaugurated in December 2010 and the fourth which will be ready in a couple of days, is a stage curtain for the culture
house in Gala by artist Lotte Konow Lund with the help of artist Astrid Haugen, both from Oslo. The fifth and the last one in the first
series of public art works will appear in Shuvalan by artist and architect Johanna Hyrkäs, Helsinki.
